Return to Old Saturn - an audio video montage exploring self, mass, mob, persecution and groupthink.
Return to Old Saturn - this musical riff developed into a video montage on information, self awareness, festival, mob, mass and the world's most popular religion: Persecution, Groupthink, and all its attendent superstitions.
The video ends on the idea that: "A history that offends no one in a mass of 7 billion must be further from truth than a history that offends no one in a mass of 10 thousand."
Our world was never simple, and we have always contained dark truth.
In the 1940s the notsees kettled the dark truth, also called the Sol Niger in old alchemy. The megen kettled and contained the beige truth in the 60s and 70s. And now in our world, social 3.0 is consumed by selfless folk terrified of the egg shell white truth.
Persecution, groupthink and superstition has always made a disgusting religion, a ridiculous history, an abomination of law, and a mockery of science, and in the 17th century Voltaire was one head gay enough to notice how disgusting such wretched ritual is, and I've used a quote of his in the video to highlight his timely criticisms of such ignorance.

.... if your nurse told you that Ceres presides over corn, or that Vishnu and Xaca have several times taken human form, or that Sammonocodom came to cut down a forest, or that Odin is waiting for you in his hall somewhere in Jutland, or the Mohammed or somebody else made a journey to heaven; if then your tutor drove into your brain what your nurse engraved there, you will keep hold of it for life. Should your judgement seek to rise above these prejudices, your neighbours, above all the woman will scream impiety and frighten you. Your Dervish, fearing to see his income diminished, accuses you to the cadi, and his cadi has you impaled if he can, because he wants to command fools, and believes that fools obey better than others. And that will last until your neighbors, the dervish and the Cadi begin to understand that folly is worthless and persecution abominable.

Other heads, though not as gay as Voltaire in perspective, also confronted "dark truth" in the 17th century.
Johnathan Swift is another such head, well worth reading. He confronted sophist philosophy in the 17th. It should be noted, Swift was not gay in his perspective like Voltaire, or for that matter, the gay Davinci, or the gay Socrates.
Mr Swift noted the 2 loons of his time in many articles and reffered to them as Wigs and Tories, which is still in use today in many countries, but it really only means Right or Left. In Mr Swifts' "Tale of a Tub," he discusses the 2 loons in a religious sense, creating 3 brothers in charge of following a good fathers dying wish. Paul (Catholic), Jack (Protestant), and little brother Martin (Lutheran). The book was an answer to the tome of sophism and a priori delight called "Leviathon," written by the idiot Hobbes.
Brother Paul is the elder, wracked with guilt, rules the wealth, knows theres always been lies to hold our shipwreck together, and has come to believe the most absurd of lies with the greatest arrogance.
Brother Jack is the protestant on the street corner telling you how to walk your woman, willing to take a beating at your hands and for your benefit like a cheek turner in masochistic ecstasy. Truth is but a whore and used to control others. There is no interest in his own wrong, similar to brother Paul. Very sophist the 2.
Brother Martin is different from his 2 elder brothers, and connects with real time, unlike his brothers.
"Tale of a Tub" is a marvelous book, and well worth reading.
In 1938 Erich Fromm published "Escape from Freedom," a look at notsee psychology in nazi germany, and Mr Fromm used the words sophism and relativism interchangeably when talking of gobbels and hitler. In 1969 he does similar when discussing Carl Jungs system in his book "Psychoanlysis and Religion."

But perhaps I have simplified?
A short poem to convolute my previous statements:
We are slender things
. Held between the twain;
Deceit destroys us,
. And truth consumes us.
