Nissan to leave Barcelona and stay in Sunderland!

After all the dire warnings from Remainers that the likes of the Nissan car-maker would leave these shores after Brexit, the reverse is actually occurring.

Nissan has announced that it will be closing its operations in Barcelona Spain and consolidating in Sunderland UK.

This will of course upset the 2,800 or so Nissan workers in Barcelona and it comes at the worst possible time - and they have been making their displeasure known with protests and tyre burning.

Must be a big blow for the local community.

But Nissan exists to make cars and make a profit while doing it.

And last year it suffered a £5 billion loss - and that coupled with the likely outcome of the coronavirus pandemic has probably forced their hand.
