GoDaddy is an American company that provides domain registrations and web hosting. The company is publicly traded on the NASDAQ stock market. GoDaddy’s headquarters are based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company was founded by serial entrepreneur Bob Parsons in 1997 in Baltimore, Maryland. Bob Parsons had previously sold his software company, Parsons Technology to Intuit for $65 million dollars in 1994. Bob had originally called the company Jomax Technologies and in 1999 the company switched their name to Go Daddy. GoDaddy started seeing a lot of growth in 2001 after Network solutions was no longer the only website to register domains. In April 2005, GoDaddy took the lead and became the biggest ICANN domain registrar on the internet. The company then later took out the space and relabeled “Go Daddy” to “GoDaddy” in 2006. In 2018 GoDaddy became the biggest web host by market share having over 60 million registered domains.
