Secret Recipes?
Patents are slowing the vaccinations down as country's try to unlock the vaccine patents.
Only companies with patents can produce vaccines as their numbers are limited, so is their capacity.
A patent ban would rob big pharma companies of the incentive to make huge investments.

"It was because of a strong patent system that we were even able to manufacture and develop this vaccine in the first place," Angela Hwang, Pfizer Inc PFE.N president for global biopharma, told EU lawmakers in a public.

AstraZeneca has licensed the Serum Institute of India to both produce and manufacture this vaccine, but the problem with these types of arrangements, firstly, is that they’re very secretive. Secondly, there are contractual terms that limit the producer, both in terms of volume and also geographic distribution of what is being produced. this is one example.
What it would do would be allow countries to be able to produce their own vaccines and therapeutics and make sure that they can take care of themselves.
