Suffering is the symptom of an underlying ignorance. Liability to suffering too is a symptom of the same.

An enduring mood can be a basis for the discernment of one's mind and what "state" the mind is in. That's how a person can begin to notice their own mind as a phenomenon that is always present in their experience. That's what "citta nimitta" is.

Mind that is not seen as an arisen, presently enduring, PHENOMENON, is the mind that pressures a person towards unskilful perceptions and actions. Learning how to discern it on its own terms means uprooting the basis for the pressure, without having to change anything else. After that, a person truly becomes incapable of unwholesome.
