“It’s a bittersweet day, to be honest with you Kieran,” Mr Walton told Sky News Australia.

“The union movement, more broadly, is a place that I love," he said.

“I’ve been in the AWU for 15 years and I’ve been able to work through some immense and amazing challenges representing working people around the country and it’s a true privilege.”
