When you're finished, you will use what Byron Katie calls The Work. It's a simple exercise where you ask four questions on each negative thought you've written down. These questions will force you to look at your situation in a different light.
After you have answered these questions, you do the turnaround. The turnaround is when you take your original statement and write three alternatives. You then write three examples of why each statement is as true or truer than your original thought.
After you have gone through the whole process, you will see the situation through a different lens. It then becomes impossible to keep believing the original thought. Your suffering will dissipate, and you will feel more relaxed.
