IF the aircraft is an AEROSPACE plane it can be capable of going all the way into the space, then re-enter hard with heat-resistant coatings (Space shuttle) or be made resistant (X-20 DynaSoar) or do the Burt Rutan leaf thingee which I don't fully understand--but it works re: Spaceship 1.
