The ex-SEAL weapons procurement guru, Mark "Coch" Cochiolo aka the Tactical Hyvester contradicts himself; 1st by complaining the HK Mk23 .45 SOF pistol is too humongous to holster--yet the separable HK M320 40mm GL--which is far bigger--is somehow AOK in an even more bloated holster. Next, he rejects under barrel grenade launchers and shotguns as too bulky when he himself seems to have loved the M203 40mm GL under his M16--like thousands of U.S. ARMY Soldiers in Vietnam whose real world demand created it for INSTANT KE bullet & CE grenade FIREPOWER--instead of the slow-to-employ, separate, M79 GL which got Pittsburgh Steelers NFL football running back Rocky Bleier in Army Grenadier service in Vietnam seriously injured when he need assault rifle bullet firepower in a firefight. If the separate GL is not bad enough with KE bullet firepower loss, one was DROPPED/LOST by an ex-SEAL during the tankless, Benghazi fiasco when they needed to hit Islamothug gunmen hiding in dead spaces.
YES, the 40mm GL warhead is puny--this is why we advocate much larger RIFLE GRENADES that everyone can fire not just those with GLs:

Moreover, Hyvester overlooks the very compact, M26 MASS 12 gauge, under-barrel shotguns in stellar service in the U.S. Army now.

If the 12 gauge shotgun under the assault rifle/battle rifle is not too big/bulky all is fine--just like with the M16 AR/M203, M4 AC/M203 GL etc.
The inability of 5.56mm LMGs to suppress can be addressed now with 7.62mm x 51mm NATO and potentially 6.8mm x 51mm shooting LMGs.

The so far, un-answered, question is can 6.8mm fire thru PDWs crew served weapons Soldiers will have in their hands when moving into their bases of fire or will they have to settle with bureaucracy-plentiful 5.56mm?
