Lima L106520 Class 43 Intercity Swallow High Speed Train Set Review HD
Here is the first review and unboxing video to come of October 2018 and this is my review of the Lima L106520 Class 43 High Speed Train Set in the Intercity Swallow colours as I originally had one of these when they first came out in 1994. The train set was released around 1994/1995 as the supplied Lima track is the (then) newer nickel silver model train track instead of the older steel track. I gave the model power a service and installed some new traction tyres as well before doing this video as old ones had split in places due to very long storage time. So the model is prone to stalling until the old ringfield motor warms up and gets going.
The fleetnumbers of the two power cars are 43051 and 43072 that make up this set and to be honest the Class 43 HST makes one impressive streamlined high speed passenger express train that the real trains that run in the Mainland UK have a top speed of 125mph and can still be seen in England, Wales and Scotland today although the real trains now have different colours hence that British Rail was privatised between 1995 to 1997 that lead to many private railway operators inheriting these HST's trains from British Rail.
Lima is no longer trading on its own terms and was taken over by the well known Hornby company in 2004. So getting hold of one of these train sets in this condition is not going be easy or cheap let's face it. However these trains do come up on some well known auction sites at times, so you may find one there but they are only available secondhand and not new anymore.
I used the included Lima power controller and as shown early in the test run. The model train responds well to the power controller and the power controller connects to the track via the supplied "jumper" cable. The train set is in OO gauge and uses traditional 12 volts DC. I do have some special videos to come here in October and November as I am going to do another model train running session music video as soon as I get some more required it..
