This segment will provide the best practices and lessons learned from the urgent need process and the development of effective requirements, such as:  Fulfilling validated, urgent Warfighter needs is DoD’s highest priority.  The Joint Staff and each Service has an urgent need process.  Requirement development must be flexible and anticipate an evolving threat (e.g., change from static CsUAS capability to a mobile capability).  Requirements must be quickly developed, communicated and validated.  Senior leader focus drives action. Providing senior leader visibility of each phase of the response to a threat is key to obtaining resources and achieving success.  Frequent meetings of the Warfighter Senior Integration Group ensures that senior DoD leaders are engaged in the resolution of urgent requirements.  Threats must be defeated through concurrent and highly collaborative processes that includes the warfighter.
