RED 8K - No improvement
Effect Heavy Playback - No Improvement
Effect Heavy Rendering - 60-80% Improvement
Bruce5k Rendering - 50% Improvement

Dayyymmm son, so should you upgrade? Well, yes and no, make backups of your libraries and your FCPX because some of my projects cause FCPX 10.4.7 to CRASH!!!! So be careful.
