Necros no Yousai (ネクロスの要塞) (1990, PC-Engine)

Necros no Yousai (ネクロスの要塞, "The Stronghold of Necros"") is JRPG based on a Japanese toyline from the 80s. It was developed by ASK Kondansha, maybe in cooperation with Amorphous Inc. The game takes place in fantasy world called Tankirie, which was conquered by the evil warlock Necros. A party of eight heroes (Knight, Mage, Amazon, Samurai, Elf, Dwarf, Berserker, and Mercenary) defeat Necros (as is shown in the intro). After that, the heroes go their separate ways. You start the game with playing as the Mercenary, who has gotten to a small village and spent all of his money. Being broke, he accepts an offer by the village elder to go looking for increasing number of villagers who have gone missing.
The game follows many conventions of the genre at the time. You explore areas in top-down view, while combat is from a first person perspective. Encounters are random and combats are turn-based.
