Hi this is Josh with dream body clinic. I am over here at the Marina right next door to the clinic. Today I want to talk a little bit about memory care, Alzheimer's, dementia, getting older, losing your mind, all these things. It's not a fun thing. Actually, my story of how I ended up down here in Mexico has got a big part to do with that. My goal was actually to move here and get involved with it. I was already in the assisted living industry and I wanted to open an assisted living community here. It just never really panned out. Investors never really worked out. Fortunately, I got into what I'm doing now with the mesenchymal stem cells. For me is even better because the whole thing of memory care is that it's so overpriced. It's so crazy. The way you people lose benefits with these things, the way Medic aid is set up. Trust me, I used to help people. It's insane. If you're on Medic aid and you get. Dementia or alzheimer's, you're pretty much on your own. At least in Washington state, California and Oregon, those were kind of the territories I worked at. It's pretty insane. The state only helps you to a point and then when you're at your worst point, it's when they take most of that care away.
The problem with Alzheimer’s and dementia is the neurons aren't working right. They're not connecting right. They're still not sure on every aspect of it, but basically your brain is not communicating between the neurons properly. So we need to clean that up. We need to get rid of what is messing up those connections.
We need to get rid of any debris in there and we need to get those neurons connecting perfectly. There's a whole facet of different things that need help there. Fortunately, Mesenchymal stem cells are being found more and more effective.
That's what we do here at dream body clinic. You've got to stem cells to the brain, but once they get there, they help influence things called axioms. These help remove debris there. And then there's a bunch of different types of macrophages that help remove any bacteria and any kind of waste. Anything that is falling apart up there and clear it out. It's a big electrical system that needs proper connection. The stem cells get up there and they start releasing what are called neurotrophic factors. Neurotrophic factors are pretty awesome. They actually guide the neurons and help regenerate. They're influencing nerves to help regenerate the myelin sheath, if there's bad connections, they're going to help reestablish those connections and get everything just working better. It's pretty complex. That's kind of the simple way to break it down.
We are seeing people that are remembering better, they are bettering conversation. They're not forgetting. The trick is getting them to the brain. The best example we had was when we first started off. We started about four and a half years ago and the patient came about four years ago when she was 82. We ran a catheter to her artery in the operating room. The cardiologist did this. We ran like 500 million stem cells straight to her brain because the toughest part is we've got to pass that blood brain barrier. Even at 500 million, not even all of those got there, that's why we put as many as we could to try and influence that and get her better. It worked, she stopped forgetting words. She started keeping track of sentences. She was good in conversation again. It costs her back to normal, which was a huge relief for a family because now they didn't have to put her in memory care. She was still living with them, just needed some normal day-to-day kind of help, like any elderly person would, but she didn't need that full on care.
Once you're in memory care, most people pass away within two years of being put into memory care. So right away, you're shortening lifespan.
Now we do intrathecal stem cell treatment. This means we go into the spinal fluid through the back. It's a really small needle, 30 gauge, like the insulin needle. We get in there, Dr. Torres does this for us. He is a specialist that can do this, he goes right into the space, gets it right in there, real tiny needle and puts 50 million stem cells. Now those are going to go into the spinal fluid, which connects to the cerebral fluid. We get it there, you start seeing differences. You start paying better attention. Your memory improves, better cognition, everything that you want.
