--------------------------
HERBERT “BLITZ” BIBER is a former 8 x Full Contact Kickboxing Champion. Between 1978 and 1984, partially handicapped athlete Herbert Biber was a multiple award winning top competitor within the major fight organizations of his time: IBF, PKA, WKA, WMAA, WAKO, DVWS. Self trained Herbert Biber conquered 8 Champion titles of 6 fight organizations in 2 different weight divisions, including Full Contact Kickboxing Champion Europe, Super Lightweight -63 kg (IBF), and 1. Ever Professional Full Contact Kickboxing National Champion Germany, Lightweight -61,2 kg (PKA, WKA, WMAA).
At the time of this recorded sparring session, Herbert Biber was already retired for 2 years. On top, he was also severely handicapped by an acute lower back injury plus related inability to exercise, at all, for 4 weeks prior to this event. This recorded sparring session was Biber's first physical exercise since then, due to said injury. Any professional athlete instantly knows how awkward that feels, performing when not being healthy, entirely off regular training rhythm, acutely injured and restricted in both fight technique and physical mobility, and with an even further increased injury risk, possibly resulting in permanent health damage...
Not many would have performed, at all, but Budo Spirit Warrior Biber nonetheless stepped up and delivered, still, even to a default. Afterwards he explained that he had put himself "at high risk, and thus cruised along on auto pilot at about 60 %, while holding back and being nice and a good sport. It was just fun, but this limited sparring session certainly does not reflect my true potential or fighting style, not even close. I usually fight in much more creative, different ways." And those who know him confirmed, and nodded in agreement.
