The Atom Strikes! - Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima, Nagasaki WWII
Source: Periscope Films.
I am not here to debate the existence of nuclear weapons as would surely happen if comments were left on. I quite honestly at this time in my life don't care if they exist or not. I found this film about the aftermath of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to be very thought provoking and interesting. I posted it for educational purposes. Past that I can only assure you that mankind can and does seem hell bent on destroying itself. All I know is something very bad was done to these people that I would not like done to me.
This is a government propaganda video of course and you will see that quickly if you watch it all the way through. However it is very interesting.
Virtually all past debates and conversations are intruded upon and changed into arguments with name calling assholes. Debating with these people about the existence of the weapon won't change anything in my mind or theirs so that is the reason the comments are turned off. I don't care one way or the other and its my channel so there is an explanation for any who care for it or have even read the comments section. For those of you who i have had the pleasure of conversing with that I agreed with or not I am sorry I have turned the comments off as I miss to some degree speaking with you. However the juice was not worth the squeeze. I have to say my blood pressure and my outlook on life have both improved this week and I have no intention at this time turning on comments in the near future. I appreciate your patronage and understanding.
The Atom Strikes is a documentary film commissioned by the U.S. Army Signal Corps Pictorial Division shortly after the end of the Second World War. It documents the findings of a commission sent to Japan to assess the damage caused by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Opening with the blast of the experimental bombing in Los Alamos, New Mexico, the film turns to the Enola Gay and its mission over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The narrator informs the audience about the military significance of the city and that it had not experienced bombing as yet, but it had been warned. The results of the bombing are then explained, with footage and descriptions of how various buildings were affected by the blast at different distances from ground zero. Afterwards, an interview with Father John A. Siemes, a Jesuit priest who was living at the Novitiate of the Society of Jesus in Nagasaki, is shown to give the audience a firsthand account of the bombing. Near the end of the interview, the priest is seen reading from a prepared statement.
Nagasaki is then mentioned, with the narrator pointing out how much armament and other military supplies were being produced there, as well as the fact that even civilian homes were used for war work. Nevertheless, the effect of the atomic blast on local schools and churches is also shown.
