“Now’s the Time”

PART 1:

Join Jessica Leia (and all of the voices in her head), as she prances around (and sometimes falls) on stage. She will also be openly discussing her addiction to her own misery and how clear, confident decision-making leads to magic in the Universe. That, of course, won’t happen until she first runs around like a chicken with her head cut off – literally – and gets chewed out by ‘OMG Girl’ for talking about moths instead of introducing the song! Though this month’s song, “Now’s the Time,” is all about doing it now, Jessica will actually present you with a video shoot of this song she once performed in the past, combined with cameos of a performance from the future, that feature Grace. “Who’s Grace,” you say? Oh, that’s just Jessica with no pants on.

PART 2:

Yes, Tarzan was harmed in the making of this film. Other than that, Jessica Leia’s just on stage doin’ her thang with her side kick / bass guitar player, Rob McCloskey down at “The Chopping Block”! They’re gonna ham it up a bit (after chopping up some squash) and chat about how songs with lots of stuff in them, end up being the ones you screw up most in live performances. Plus, you’ll learn a few new music vocabulary words – including one word that’s so old, it’s even older than Rob McCloskey, himself! After all of that, Jessica and Rob will perform the song they just explained to you – promptly illustrating how to screw up on songs with lots of stuff in them! Don’t worry, they unscrew things pretty quickly and ultimately offer you a yummy performance of this month’s song: “Now’s the Time”.

PART 3:

Join Jessica Leia and the band as they head on down to Laughing (Ha Ha!) Tiger (Grooowl!) Studios. It’s all about getting the instrument tracks recorded this week, so that next week, Jessica can record the final vocals on this song “Now’s the Time”. There will be some vocals this week, of course. Vocals that recordin’ folk like to call, “scratch vocals”. But sometimes Jessica’s vocals do more than just scratch! In fact, this session, they’re more than likely to break the microphone! … For realsies. It’s one giggle after another as everyone - from the engineer to the cameraman - try to figure out what the heck is going on and how this song is supposed to go!

PART 4:

Jessica is about to throw down some killer vocals in the PART 4, grand finale of Episode 3: “Now’s the Time”… She’s headin’ on over to San Raphael, CA to plop herself in front of a microphone and get ‘er done. First, of course, she will need to take her bra off. Hey, how are you supposed to relax and sing your little heart out if you don’t feel right at home? Although she does end up getting in to a little bit of trouble from Producer, Frank Dorritie, that’s just because she keeps not making her pronouns match. Toss in a little debate about who the greatest lyricist of all time is as well as some vocal warm ups and BAM: you’ve got a rip roarin’ ride of a recording session!

PART 5:

Because “Me and My Song is a show based on a 4 PART structure, a fifth week in any given month means a BONUS SUNDAY! On this Bonus Sunday, Jessica takes the stage to give a sort of Raw Reveal of a song she previously revealed to the internet called, “My Way”. Before she presents to you the studio version of this high energy rocker, (alongside a slideshow of she and her band mates performing it in many different venues), she will give an impassioned speech, (or go on a tangent, depending on how you look at it), about some of the realizations she has had over the years working in the music biz and really, just in life in general. Ultimately, she is going to tell you in her own way why - although it may not be easy, smart, or convenient - she’s just gonna go ahead and do things, well, her way.
