Mutiny 1995

In January 1995 more than 100 hundred black police officers locked themselves in a police station and went on strike (heavily armed). These members wanted the removal of the only five (5) white police officers in at this police station. Keep in mind that this happened in the 'New South Africa' post-1994 democratic elections. The order to re-take the police station was taken under command of the Mandela ANC government. Mutiny was a very serious offence in the security forces (the police was part of the security forces). The striking member that was shot was armed. The members who ended the mutiny/strike were from the ISD units, and the Dog unit (K9) The name change to POP (Public Order Policing), happened soon after. The ISD units changed from the camouflage uniform in April 1994 to the blue with dark blue shirt. Sadly from around this time the discipline and training of the newly formed South African Police Service started to take a dive, the result was an increase in crime. The current SAPS has had many leadership problems due to political appointments and poor accountability systems, violent crime and corruption is at record highs as well. There are however some in law enforcement doing their best, but they are not in the majority, the system doesn't reward hard work. When standards drop, the war is lost. Many police officers have said we have lost the war on crime, these are the members actually doing the work.

The black majority wanted the last few white members gone from the station. So it was anti-white racism and mutiny against the new 'multi-racial'/black South African government.
It's what happens when you promote a culture of un-governability, chaos.
