Local tribespeople were baffled by the bizarre creature which was seen glistening in the moonlight while slithering across rocks.

A wildlife rescuer from the conservation group "The Tribe Goa" said: ''This is an amazing creature of the jungle.

"It was the first time I saw this one and it happened during a night walk. It's a hammerhead worm.''
