The Fallacy of the Alpha Wolf

I've never felt Alpha nor Beta. I just like being me!
If you were born after 1970 you most likely came across this idea of "The Alpha Wolf". The idea that wolves tournament fight for the top position in a wolf pack. This idea than spread to humans and became the basis for how men should be the alpha to certain other people and how they should keep everyone else in line. This appears to be wrong, outdated and oversimplified thinking that comes from out misunderstanding of how wolves and other pack animals actually behave.
Let's dig into this idea for a bit.
Also like I stated. I'm not anti-competition. it just feels like this male alpha, competitive nonsense has gone overboard and is severely miunderstood.
