Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 by Jean Sibelius

Sibelius completed this concerto in 1904 with the first performance being given in February of that year in Helsinki. Due to limitations on the rehearsal time and the soloist portion of the concerto being technically demanding, the performance was not a success. Sibelius would revise the work and, with the premiere of the final version being given in October 1905 in Berlin.

The new version was well received by the public and has become a popular Sibelius work for performance.

The concerto is comprised of three movements:
I. Allegro moderato
II. Adagio di molto
III. Allegro, ma non troppo
