The EU is already gloating that, by signing up to this rotten Chequers Brexit In Name Only (BRINO) deal, the bloc will keep all the controls over UK rules and regulations.
This comes from a leaked diplomatic note after a meeting between EU27 diplomats and EU Commission Eurocrats seen by The Times, where it says:
"They must align their rules but the EU will retain all the controls. They apply the same rules. UK wants a lot more from future relationship, so EU retains its leverage."
And the Independent reports something it calls 'political dynamite':
"The leaked written account of the meeting seen by the newspaper also suggests that Britain “would have to swallow a link between access to products and fisheries in future agreements” for the future relationship."
The Chairman of the Tory eurosceptic European Research Group, or ERG, Jacob Rees-Mogg, said:
"She hasn’t so much struck a deal as surrendered to Brussels and given in to everything they want and tried to frustrate Brexit that it’s not so much a vassal state anymore as a slave state."
And the deputy chair of the ERG, Mark Francois, says that even if this deal does get through cabinet it won't get through parliament as, not only are the bulk of the Labour party likely to vote it down, but so will the ERG members and the DUP.
So, cabinet needs to listen and resign now to avoid their own future total political oblivion.
