In the early 1990s, electric cars began to appear on roads all over California. They were quiet and fast, produced no exhaust and ran without using petrol. Then, ten years later, these cars were suddenly and mysteriously recalled by their manufacturer, General Motors and crushed in the Arizona desert.

Was it because of a lack of consumer confidence, a failed market? Or, perhaps more likely, from the numerous lawsuits from automobile manufacturers, the oil industry and the government of George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice and Andrew Card — which, of course, are all former executives and board members from oil and car companies?
