To provide a bit of backstory, there was a Touhou-themed game jam this month called the 'Hakurei Cleaning Game Jam', where developers had a month to make a fanmade shmup. Among the teams that signed up were a couple of members of Analogue Reverie, a relatively new circle dedicated to working on Touhou fangames. For this jam, they wanted to work on a project that was eventually titled 'Touhou Saikai – Remembrance of Past Prayers', which aimed to be an arcade-style shmup resembling CAVE games. Around the 23rd of last month, WishMakers, the lead developer, asked me to help with composition work, and despite me having already done a Touhou album this year, I agreed.
Since the 1st of this month, I've been busy working on that game's soundtrack, and it looked like I'd be finished well ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, plans fell through due to real life obligations on one of the team member's end, and the game's development was put on hold. Since I was so close to the end by that point I wanted to at least finish this soundtrack. That brings us to today.
The soundtrack contains 10 covers and roughly 13 original tracks inspired by ZUN's work on Touhou, all done in Famitracker. It's being hosted on Bandcamp in case you're wary of MEGA, and although it's pay-what-you-want I'd really rather you just get it for free (since half of these tracks are straight-up covers). For the interest of transparency, any money earned will be put towards supporting stupidity™ on ProtonJon streams. Barring that, it'll be put into charity.
What does that mean for upcoming Famitracker Bits videos? I can say with certainty that no planned tracks will be affected, and if anything this album will make this channel's output more active than normal. For the next several months, I'll be uploading the soundtrack to this on my main channel for the sake of having something on it on Bitchute, since I honestly can't fit it anywhere else without completely mangling the schedule for the other videos I have planned. Current plan is to have Touhou Saikai uploads on Monday and Wednesday. Fridays will still have normal Famitracker Bits uploads, with a couple of exceptions here and there. The reason I'm doing a Bandcamp and MEGA album first is in case you just want to listen to the music without any delays.
Also for clarity's sake, I do not plan on putting either standard Famitracker Bits videos or the Touhou Week tracks into an album on Bandcamp at this time; the former because a lot of these cover are owned by companies who are very stingy with fan-works, and the latter because it's probably way too late for that. I may do more original albums in the future which will be posted on Bandcamp, so stay tuned.
With that being said, I'll see you on Monday for the first of these uploads!
