ELVIS AS RECORDED AT SUN STUDIO - THE MASTERS
*** Recorded July 18, 1953 - November 4, 1955 ***
In July 1953 Elvis took all of his week pay and recorded an acetate at Memphis Recording Service.
One year later, he'd record a R&B type song that seemed promissive at Sun Studio. When Released, it made him a star in Southern US states.
Few months later he was one of the main attractions in radio shows like The Louisiana Hayride and the All-Star Jamboree.
He'd be Sun label's main star until november 1955, when his new agent - the so-called Colonel Parker - made a huge deal to make him a national and world star at RCA Records.
From the 25 songs he recorded in 16 months at Sun Studio, only 10 were released at the time.
Six of them were lost or recorded over, and another 5 remained unreleased until 1956. The other 4 - along with his first 4 acetates and 3 radio demo recordings - never saw the light of release while he was alive.
All Memphis Recording Service / Sun Studio Masters would only be released together in FTD's "A Boy From Tupelo" in 2012 (re-released by Sony in 2017).
Here we present a new edit with all 1953-1955 Masters in order of recording date and a few bonuses. We hope you like it. Enjoy!
