3 Notes:

1 - The exception to the rule of doing a step on and off the beat (I forgot to get back to that in the video) is that you can't do a step on count 1 (the beat) and then do another on the & right after count 1 - there needs to be more time/counts between the repetitions of a given step.

2 - You don't need multiple sounds to get syncopation. I can stamp on count 1 and then on the & after 2 then on count 4 and then on the & after 5 etc.

3 - Doing a step on then off the beat is not the only way to do syncopation - it's just a simple pattern most people can easily understand. You can certainly do more complicated/sophisticated combinations of on and offbeats than just alternating like I did in the video.
