Well, my attempts to reach 17th Century Williamsburg resulted in Quantum Instability again, it seems that no amount of calibration will get me past the 1890's, oh well. Let's see where and when I bounced to-a fair of some kind? Er.... Undskyld mig? Hvor er jeg?
Denmark's first filmmaker, court photographer Peter Elfelt, has over 200 films to his credit, many of them short documentaries. This lovely 4 minute feature shows a local fair in Copenhagen Denmark, where relaxing attendees are seen taking in the sights, eating and drinking, observing the livestock (and who knew that Riding Cattle was a thing in early 20th Century Denmark?) and an early steam-powered hay baler. This fair was apparently important enough to attract Crown princess Louise and Crown Prince Frederick to attendance-likely the reason that Mr Elfelt was filming, though the visit seemed fairly routine for the Danish Royals...
This short film remained in a decent state of preservation in the European Film Gateway archives until film restorer Film Rescue used AI technology to:
• Upscale to 4K using Hybrid software
• Add frames for smoothness using Hybrid software
• Colorize using Artificial Intelligence
• Grain and noise removal using Hybrid and Lightroom
-and collaborate with fellow restorer Guy Jones for an 'effects' track of suitable background noises.
I toast the both of you with my mug of Swiss Chocolate as I bask in 4 minutes of Danish sights and sounds from well over a century ago... Tinted, Soundtrack.
