"Digital Currency" is not Cryptocurrency

As cryptocurrencies grow in popularity, many central banks and government regulators are starting to take notice. The spread of cryptocurrency has led many authors to call on central banks to develop and issue their own form of digital currency to “get ahead” of cryptocurrency adoption and maintain their control over the monetary system.The idea that governments can hop on the crypto bandwagon and successfully issue their own “digital currency” is based on a flawed premise and shows that many people still do not understand how cryptocurrencies work and why they have become so popular.
