Turkish Economic Crisis via Inflation
Turkey has suffered some shocking inflation recently, and what happens in some countries can very easily spread to the wealthiest Western Nations under the wrong circumstances. And right now we’re seeing a lot of red flags & similarities which I’ll explain in a moment.
Firstly, Turkey is not a depressed nation as so many people incorrectly assume, Turkey was one of the fastest growing economies of the 21st Century. It's also part of the European Union and therefore classed as a western power. So if this can happen to Turkey, it can happen to other countries too.
Turkey is now in the midst of an economic crisis, with the Turkish lira losing more than half its value last year in 2021 and inflation hitting its highest level for twenty years.
The Lira lost 30% of its value against the dollar in November alone and 15% of it’s value in just 1 day! That would be like having $100 in your pocket when you go to work, and that same $100 only being worth $85 when you come home. Not only that, imagine some of your grocery items increasing by over 100% in a single year.
