Locals say 100s of people are still missing so the govt are hiding the real facts as usual ... and usually as in many other disasters ... the death toll can never be accurate due to people losing everything and leavng the region without informing anyone ... but i do know this, many resuce infllatables and fishing boats headed out of the Wairoa River mouth to collect a number of bodies discovered at sea, also bodies were found smashed amongst the fallen DAMMED and trapped at every bridge blocked by massive logs and branches ... these deaths were not reported after only 11 GOVT official deaths ...
