I have actually made one of these...years ago. Did not make a video if it. Just did it in my room on a breadboard [https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/163699758759]
I think if I had better antenna wire it would of worked better. But I think I got a 3 volt spike. It went up and up slowly. If I recall correctly it then went away so somethign was off.....and also I was using silicon diodes not the correct Germanium diodes for this project: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=germanium%20diodes
It is to do with how the diodes are made...the properties of the materials... the SILICON vs GERMANIUM. ;) Look into it more for yourself.

EDIT: I forgot to point out I later did get the germanium diodes and tried again...I am not sure I had much success...the voltage was low I think( i think I just need to purchase some antenna wire -things happen other things take precedent and I just have not got back to it yet....I need to remake it and now that I have a multi-meter again. I should try it out sometime ;)
