Colour Mixing for Beginners
The subject of colour theory can seem daunting and a bit dry but it doesn’t need to be. Just learning a few basic principles of colour theory and values can help you to set an easy to remember structure in your head that can really make a difference to your painting.
In this video I briefly cover the basics of the colour wheel, colours and values and some tips on how you can apply these basic principles to your painting.
In this video I recreate the colours I normally use for painting using only red, yellow, blue and white and then I paint a landscape using those three primary colours and white. However the landscape I am creating is the exact same scene I painted in my previous YouTube video on mixing greens. I wanted to see if I could if I could recreate this landscape using red, yellow, blue and white. At the end of the video I compare the two paintings.
