Note: all tracks recorded under the names Academy 23 or UNIT are the property of DNA Records and protected by copyright, regardless of who wrote the works concerned. This is a track recorded in November 2021 for our 49th album: Alone In A Quiet Place. This includes our brief arrangement of Prince Rupert’s March, written by an anonymous English composer circa 1645, during the first Civil War coupled with a quote from an apposite poem by Robert Burns.
Try as I might, I had no notion what to do
on the field of Edgehill in 1642.
I waded through a fearful hill of blood and gore
on the field of Marston Moor in 1644.
Crécy 26th August 1346; Poitiers 18th September 1356
Agincourt 25th October 1415; Trafalgar 21st October 1805
Waterloo 18th June 1815 : very well, you damned Frogs – bring it on!
Ye hypocrites! Are these your pranks,
to murder men an’ gie God thanks?
Desist, fae shame; proceed no further.
God won’t accept your thanks for murder.
I struggled manfully to live and stay alive
on the field of Naseby in 1645.
I surveyed a broken nation nobody could fix
at the siege of Newark in 1646.

In 2016 we released our 30th album (Fast – Clean – Cheap) and with it an era passed. We realised it is neither necessary nor desirable to continue to issue our work on compact discs. The process is expensive and time consuming (pressing CDs, printing booklets and tray cards, buying jiffy bags, going to the post office – it’s so 1990s) so now Band Camp exists, an avenue is presented by which we can release our work to the public directly. Our projects will be obtainable from this address:
IMPORTANT NOTE: The paypal address for our Band Camp and Lulu sites is now [email protected].
In addition there are currently 12 books available. These are proper books in print, not fake, ersatz ‘books’ you see advertised on the internet these days as ‘e-books’. They can be purchased from lulu.com. Type ‘Andy Martin – Grange Hill’ to locate them.
