Laboratory Project: Bezier Curves Part 1
In this video I go over the Laboratory Project: Bezier Curves and go over part 1 of the project. Recall that laboratory projects are very interesting math projects at the end of some of the books in my calculus book. In this project, I take a look at some very cool parametric curves, known as the Bezier Curves. They are named after the French mathematician Pierre Bezier, and the curves are used in many computer-aided design applications. In part 1 I look at the cubic Bezier curves and the pair of parametric equations that form them. I graph a specific example of the curves using the amazing Desmos calculator, and illustrate the 4 “control points” of the Bezier curve. The Bezier curve is visualized by a polygon with a curve inside that has its behavior affected by the arrangement of the control points surrounding it. This is a very cool curve, and as I will show in later parts, it has some very amazing real-world applications, so make sure to watch this video and stay tuned for more!
