Largest Pandemics and Epidemics by Death Toll
This bar chart race shows the largest known pandemics and epidemics by estimated death tolls.
Notes:
The estimated number used for Covid-19, is today the 27th December 2020.
When estimated numbers have a lowest and highest number, an average is used.
In the past, the population was not as high as today. And there are variations between local population and local versus worldwide. So, a lower death toll in absolute numbers does not reflect how deadly the pandemic or epidemic was in percantage of the population.
There are some other known pandemics and epidemics, but without estimates.
