The Rise of King Edmund Ironside

In the dark and uncertain months of 1015-16, the English peoples remain disunited in the face of the imminent threat of Viking invasion. Cnut has been driven from England and King Æthelred the Unready has been restored, however, the Viking leader is determined to regain control of England.

Meanwhile, another figure rises to prominence. With the death of the heir to the throne Æthelstan, King Æthelred's third son Edmund acts by responding to the deaths of two noblemen at the hands of his father and building his own base of power to combat both Cnut and his enemies at home.

In this episode, part of a greater series on the era of King Cnut, we follow the rise of Edmund, later known as the Ironside and England's slip into all out war over the crown...
