According to the breaking news, AFAD and Kandilli Observatory announced that an earthquake of 6.4 magnitude occurred in the Defne district of Hatay. Three minutes after the earthquake that occurred on 20.04, at 20.07, another 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in Hatay, Samandag. It was reported that the 6.4 magnitude earthquake, which was also felt in the surrounding provinces, was at a depth of 16.7 kilometers. Heavily damaged buildings were destroyed in the earthquake. The latest warning from AFAD stated, "It is important for our citizens to stay away from the coastline as a precaution against the risk of a rise in sea level up to 50 cm." Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş said that there were buildings destroyed as a result of the earthquake and those who were under the rubble.
