Former United States President Donald Trump has mocked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his presidential campaign announcement that occurred on Wednesday, local time.

Mr Trump told reporters Mr DeSantis had a "rough opening" and that it was "not a pretty picture to watch".

"DeSantis had a big problem last night. That was not a pretty picture to watch." Mr Trump said.

Mr Trump then took to his social media platform Truth Social, where he posted a video referring to Mr DeSantis as "DeSanctimonious"

"Is Rob [Ron] DeSanctimonious just young, inexperienced and naive or more troubling, is he a fool who has no idea what the hell he's doing?"
