2962, Trump Speech at CPAC, 2962
I’m still reporting on Trump @ CPAC.
CPAC is the largest gathering of conservatives in the United States. I only wish it didn’t occur at the coldest time of the year.
I used to get recognized at CPAC, but that was back in the 1990s when they met on the Virginia side of the Potomac. Now they meet at National Harbor on the Maryland side. If anyone remembers where we used to meet on the Virginia side, please let me know. By the way, the Wikipedia entry on CPAC is pathetic.
Each year, I say, I’m going to CPAC next year, then it’s cold and I stay home and do other stories. But next year I’m going to be at CPAC on at least the last day when President Trump speaks.
A lot of my international audience doesn’t get to see much of our President other than 10-second clips here and there. So it’s hard for them to understand why he is so popular.
Early on in his CPAC speech today, Trump took a shot at Mike Bloomberg that had the audience laughing uproariously.
But here’s a little context first. On Feb. 20, Elizabeth Warren browbeat Bloomberg during a Democrat debate.
Obviously, Bloomberg was not ready for that attack and his response was widely considered pathetic and was actually the beginning of Bloomberg’s decline.
So here was Trump’s best line from CPAC – totally unscripted!
Trump is at his best when he goes off the script. You’ll see him go off script in the first 7 seconds of this video. The bottom line is there has never been a political speaker as good as Trump – not in my lifetime – and I’m older than you think.
I’m still reporting from just outside the citadel of American freedom. Good Day.
