Faxanadu is one of Hudson Soft's best games made by them of all time. First published in Japan in 1987, but didn't make it to the North America market until 1989. The game music was composed by Jun Chikuma, who is also known for her contributions to the Bomberman series of games. Remastering a MIDI orchestration of this piece has been fun. Daniel Wright, who arranged the orchestration did a great job, and made my job of editing it really easy. Had to do a few tweaks here and there, and I opted toward using Anvil Studio instead of Cakewalk. I use Anvil now whenever I want to use the CoolSoft VirtualMIDISynth, which allows me to use some of my favorite soundfonts . For this piece, I went with the Merlin Audigy soundfont, as it often does well with orchestral type pieces.
I found this MIDI here: https://vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/nes/
The original composer for the song is Jun Chikuma.
