Approximate Integration: Example 4: Simpson's Rule
In this video I go over another example on approximate integration and this time use the Simpson's Rule to approximate the integral of the function 1/x from x = 1 to x = 2. This was the same function that in my earlier video I approximated using the Trapezoidal and Midpoint Rules. In this video I show that the Simpson's Rule is much more accurate then either of the other two approximation methods. Not only that but it turns out the Simpson's Rule is a weight average of the Trapezoidal and Midpoint Rules. I will proof this fact in my next video so stay tuned for that!
