Hollywood Expose and Analysis Part 4 - Touring the Dark Side of Universal Studios

Brian and I continue our tour of Universal Studios Hollywood with their famous TRAM RIDE.
We have run the gauntlet of shops and restaurants..as well a such impressive pop culture props and displays like SIMPSON'S...HARRY POTTER. ..etc. etc. and free shows like SPECIAL EFFECTS.

Universal Studios is over 100 years old, and was a pioneer in studio tours. It was built in and onto a hillside, and like Warner Brothers studios, at the time it was less conspicuous in the San Fernando Valley as opposed to LA City.

The Tram takes us to lower levels of the site and sound stages where various past and present Movies and TV shows are shot. Duly note the "fake" buildings...all you see is the fronts. Very well done...

The "original " City Hall area was destroyed by a major fire several years ago..since replaced...as was the animatronic King Kong...since replaced by 3D visual effects.

Scene from Mexican Village..in past tours a flash flood comes down

Older sets...classic movies made here..overall, quite amazing detail.

Subway scene....earthquake..chaos of truck, subway train......floods using actual water.....these are preferable to CGI effects..

"JAWS" set was cool...spoiler alert....I warned Brian of where to get the best "shark" shot...
( NOTE: Recommend old videos of the Florida Universal Studio JAWS exhibit...more detailed....no longer exists ).

HOO ville set...intriguing...children's theme? next to PSYCHO set?!.

Classic BATES MOTEL from movie "PSYCHO "...in another video we visit Janet (shower scene) Leigh's grave..... as well as classic "Psycho house on hill".

Trivia....Alfred Hitchcock was part of the Psychological Warfare Dept. in WW2....whereby staged, manipulated etc. newsreels etc. were created that demonized Germans etc. He and others..such as Billy Wilder... were later rewarded with Hollywood careers.

We see the plane "crash" site...whereby an actual 747 plane was brought to the site and cut up to serve as a prop. This is quite the prop...!!!!
