The Alternate Reality of Chris Hedges

In this video I take a deep dive into some general characterizations made by Hedges in an interview posted by Jimmy Dore - here is that clip: https://youtu.be/YGxh6UYNRpw?t=76 I show the links between Bob Scheer and Ramparts magazine to David Horowitz, post-Soviet/Stalinist radical left Jewish politics, Eldridge Cleaver and the Black Panthers, and also the links between Martin Luther King and Stanley Levison, and between Michele Wallace, Ms magazine and Gloria Steinem, and Horowitz' evolution into neoconservative Reaganism, Steinem's formative association with the CIA, and Levison's post-Stalinist communism and the FBI (and COINTELPRO). This is all to show how Jewish activism was not only the foundation of civil rights and black liberation activism, but how that appears to have crashed and burned the movement post-Civil Rights Act, with the aid of the intelligence agencies. After showing how Hedges plays fast and loose with the facts, this is intented to show how his representations are superficial and conventional, while there is a deeper grammar to the events and history he talks about, which is a consistent pattern with him.

I think I failed to mention the link between Gordon Parks and the CIA in this - Parks worked for Time-Life, which was heavily connected to the CIA in the '50s and '60s, with people like the shadowy CD Jackson and CEO Henry Luce. He photographed the Black Panthers, including Cleaver in Algeria, providing information to the intelligence agencies, and then was sent to Hollywood to do Shaft. This was part of the evolution of the image of the prototype strong black man from the suit-and-tie types like King and Malcolm X to the black leather-and-beret-clad militant Panthers to the leather coat and feathered-hat Superfly pimp types.
