Macquarie Bank to go completely cashless in a shift to move fully digital
Macquarie Bank has announced it's going cashless as it becomes the first big bank to move to a fully digital model. It follows CBA-owned Bankwest's decision to do the same last month, closing down all branches and forcing customers into online banking. The Australian Media Writer Sophie Elsworth has discussed Macquarie Banks' decision to go cashless. “I think it’s a shocking thing,” Ms Elsworth told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “There are situations where we need cash particularly if there’s a flood or a cyclone. “I think this is very dangerous if we have no cash in society and particularly for older Australians who love operating in cash.”
