In those days, "blonde" meant "blonde". Natural-lookin hair-coloration hadn't been invented yet, and "bottle-blondes" were obviously fake, just look at Jayne Mansfiield or any similar actress. Me Ma was a true blonde until about age 27, then the taint came through. Mine came through about ten years earlier, since my dad had black hairs; he was what is called "Black Dutch" in Pennsylvania.
