Vasco da Gama (1984, C64)

Vasco da Gama is a simulation game by German company Otto Maier Verlag Ravensburg. It is named after the famous Portugese explorer and the game is about playing Vasco da Gama voyage to India around the Cape of Good Hope. You start off in Lisbon and need to find your way to India, then trade-in as much valuable spice as you can and bring it to the Potugese king.
The game has a text-adventure-like interface.You command your ship by typing in orders as "set sails" or "hard starboard". Events are shown as texts only. If you are close to land, you can go onshore and see what you can find. You are in charge of the food and water supplies, so you need to go onshore to restock once in a while. Apart from thirst and starvation, there are many other dangers, like hitting cliffs, mutiny or the ship getting destroyed by a storm. If you are onshore, you might also meet people to trade with or have other adventures.
