Here’s what its like to be a spectator at an interview with a true Menzoid, as Dave shows us how to conduct a professional interview in the freezing cold, outdoors at night in beautiful downtown Toronto, at our very own Nathan Phillips Square on a Thursday night, on the 28th of February 2021.
It was so incredibly cold and reasonably lonely, but eventually a small group assembled and a Ms. Rosetta spoke of their frustrations of the present state of the lock-down and their future aspirations to repair the social fabric once a critical mass of people realize the lock-down is, even by its own metrics of success, a total overstep of the personal freedoms of Canadians and a ridiculous response to a virus which has a 99.97% survival rate.
In previous years it would have been the harsh cold that might have resulted in a depopulated Downtown area, but there was an extra, eerie layer of the knowledge that many people were responding to the latest lock-down orders which stated that, because of a virus with a 99% survival rate. People have been asked to live indoors, and permanently and fundamentally alter the way in which their society functions. With no end in sight, and an ever increasing list of seemingly arbitrary things to do, or refrain from doing – most of which violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms – this group is but one of many who are fed up and are directing their attentions to positive action to spread the word and organize with like-minded peoples.
David tears up the airwaves, and provides an example of how to professionally shoot an interview in Canada – with a decent mike and a poor shivering cameraman, and a few willing participants against a reasonable background. He also has a really nice microphone and an audio recorder that costs more than most of HVN’s gear sprinkled with gold dust.
More importantly, from a background angle, one can see what raw film product looks like – to get a much better sense of how much work goes into putting these things together. Please appreciate all the things that go into making a professional looking news-cast out of a bunch of crappy raw footage and an audio recording.
