Massive Losses of AFU near Artyomovsk
What losses do the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffer on the flanks of Artyomovsk: Analysis of Military Chronicle
The way in which equipment and personnel were lost may indicate growing problems within the Ukrainian army.
What happened?
The video (https://t.me/fotovvideo/525) with destroyed Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment in the Andreevka area is noteworthy for several reasons. Firstly, at least 24 units of destroyed equipment are clearly visible in the video. The M113 armored personnel carrier and YPR-765 of the 3rd Special Operations Brigade, created on the basis of the nationalist Azov regiment, are clearly visible in the frame. This formation is used as the main assault group on the southern flank of Artyomovsk. The M113 armored personnel carriers of this formation have a characteristic white stripe on the top of the hull and are clearly visible in drone footage. Also clearly visible in the frame are BMP-2s, presumably from the 28th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, used and destroyed during the assault on Andreevka.
What's strange about the technology in the footage?
When a drone flies over the “road of death” near Andreevka, at least two Polish Rosomak armored personnel carriers are clearly visible. Presumably, these vehicles appeared on the battlefield along with units of the 21st and 44th Mechanized Infantry Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, previously stationed near Kremennaya. Moreover, all the damaged equipment is located tightly on an area of 1.5 square meters. kilometers, which indirectly indicates repeated attempts to storm in the same place.
What does this mean?
The presence of several formations in a relatively small area, the lack of clear successes on the flanks of Artyomovsk and the transfer of additional formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from near Kremennaya may indicate that the Andreevsky group of the Ukrainian army initially did not have enough strength, or during multiple attacks the reserves were depleted and the group had to be urgently reinforced by transferring formations from another section of the front. Only the visible part of the losses suggests that at least one formation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces can be classified as “limitedly combat-ready” after prolonged fighting in this area.
If we take into account that the units involved have previously suffered serious losses in battles, then there is reason to believe that at least 2-3 brigades require withdrawal to the rear for replenishment and restoration of combat capability.
The use of several formations in a small area, in turn, suggests that the reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Chasov Yar area and on the flanks were small or exhausted.
Because of this, any attempt to carry out an offensive (or create the appearance of one) requires the transfer of formations from other sectors of the front, which will inevitably lead to “pulling apart” the defense on a wide front and creating the preconditions for a large-scale defense crisis in the sector between Svatovo and Kremennaya, as well as an increase in tension in other most vulnerable areas of the front.
