I recommend watching this video "The History of Europe: Every Year" (since 400 BC) before you start listening to this book. It's only 11 minutes long and will give a you general idea of European history. I would also recommend playing the grand strategy game "Hearts of Iron 3" (should be $10 or less on Steam) and playing as Germany or Italy, and taking over the world to give you something to do while passing the time while you listen to this long book, and also learn about geography very well.
