Their stubborn autopilot systems won't allow their courses to be altered outside of a straight line. Meanwhile, Plague Dam security keeps firing down on them. Shay uses his ship's grappling arms to grab onto Alex's ship, but Hope disables them. Vella tries to use Alex's laser to meltdown the to ships, but Alex disables the power. Shay and Vella will need to create a distraction in order for this plan to work. Vella goes into Marekai's control room and has a chat with the Thrushmaster. The Thrushmaster reveals more about the separation from the Badlands using the Plague Dam to prevent Lorunians from leaving and settling in, his race's sterilized genetic code, using young boys raised outside the Loruna to seek out maidens for processing, and how they're going to process Vella and have all her genetics inserted into the Thrush's DNA. He also reveals that when Shay was done with his mission, he was going to be sent back to Loruna and be celebrated as a hero, but now he's going to have everyone killed because they know too much. In the most damning of all confessions, he reveals how they managed to talk Vella's people out of rising up against the Thrush. Levina then comes onscreen to reveal herself as a Human Thrush hybrid all along.
